A question for you. What makes a good website?

I would say, it depends.

It depends on what the website goal is, if the goal is to look pretty and it does, congratulations it is a good website for its goal. More often than not though, this is the default aim for websites that have not thought this question through.

So what about you? Before designing a website, it’s good to have an idea of what your ‘goal’ is

Is it to get more customers? To sell some of your product online? To give people information?

According to your goal, your website should be designed, well, accordingly.

That’s why before I start a new project I ask myself these questions:

  1. What is the goal of the site, what do I want this website to accomplish?
  2. What things would contribute towards this goal?
  3. What things would get in the way of this goal?

And then I begin work.

Simplistic, Maybe, but to me this is an effective place to start, and has resulted in structured, powerful, easy to use websites
